Behold, Mine Nemesis!
From hell’s heart I stab at thee! (Both a play off of Melville and a little tribute to the late, great Ricardo Montalban)
Nemesis Project is a little bike parts company that specializes in (primarily) dirt jumping, street riding, downhill, and freeride mountain bikes. They are branching out into the fixed gear freestyle scene (there are shots of a few fixed frames on their site). I’m stoked because they make a 22.2 clamp area riser bar. This means you can use it with your BMX stems. They also make a stem, which looks pretty sick as well. You can find a review of both on ihatebikes.net.
Other than the Atomlab “General Issue” bars, I don’t know of many other 2-4″ risers that are compatible with BMX stems. You don’t want to have to resort to using mini bars (which are for kids) or some other lightweight solution that will end with a bar bending ninety degrees towards the ground and with your face in your stem or worse.
There is a small point of contention with these narrower diameter bars: by definition they will not be as strong as regular (25.4) or oversized (30.8) clamp area bars. The one thing going for them, however, is that they are usually made from steel, versus aluminum. That alone makes them worth it.
Steel is real!
