What’s better than a new pair of Vans?

Pay to cum
Well, lots of things, really. That said, while I’m not in a rush to buy a new pair of shoes whenever something catches my eye, these new Bad Brains Vans are looking pretty good. A little over the top, but not nearly as bad as all of the Maiden ones. Some of the best music Vans, I sat on and missed (remember the tasteful Millencolin Old Schools from 2002?) and I’ve regretted it. So it’s with some trepedation that I wonder if I’ll jump on these. To me, collector shoes are worthless if you aren’t going to wear them: shoes are meant to be worn, otherwise it’s crass materialism with no real point. Of course, I burn through at least four pairs of Vans every year, so I might be able to squeeze these into the rotation.
The Bad Brains line includes three t-shirts, the pictured Skate Highs, some 46s (like Eras), and is slated to be fully released this summer. Some of it is available now, directly from the Vans store. The Skate Highs feature the classic lightning bolt from the ROIR cassette, while the 46s feature artwork from the new album, “To Build a Nation”.
Maybe if I rock some Bad Brains kicks, the kids won’t think I’m such a sellout…
